About Giving for Kids

Giving for Kids is an online community for individuals who have pledged to prioritize kids (0-24) and kids' causes when making decisions about their giving. By taking the Giving for Kids Pledge and joining Giving for Kids, you help create a society where donors raise the visibility of kids and youth. You choose how and where you donate, and inspire others when you share your giving story. Take a public pledge today and share your passion for supporting young people!

A pledge is defined as a “promise” or “commitment.” By taking a public pledge, you are declaring your intention to give to charitable causes. Unlike a donation, which entails the exchange of money or goods, a pledge is the “promised” exchange of money and a future commitment to donate. When you take the Giving for Kids Pledge, you are promising to direct the majority of your giving to causes that improve the lives of kids. The Giving for Kids Pledge is legally non-binding.

** Note: Giving for Kids is not a fund itself and does not accept, direct, suggest placement of, or monitor philanthropic/charitable gifts.**

Giving for Kids was founded to accomplish the following goals:

  • To heighten public visibility of the issues around the health and well-being of children

  • To increase awareness of and philanthropic commitment to these issues by mobilizing a broadened U.S. donor base

  • To create a virtual community of peers who pledge to prioritize kids in their giving

  • To set a new precedent in the world of philanthropy by being the US’s first pledge program for kids and youth causes

  • To help actualize the mission of Leading for Kids - the program’s founding organization, invested in creating a society that prioritizes kids

Our goal is to broaden the base of U.S. donors who think about kids when they give. Your giving will inspire others to follow your lead!

Giving for Kids has no net worth requirements to join. Anyone who takes the Giving for Kids Pledge is able to:

  • Publicly declare their intention to better the lives of young people through their giving

  • Virtually meet with other pledgers to share ideas, and be introduced to new issues and organizations

  • Participate in online networking opportunities and events, engage with fellow pledgers, and hear from experts on the health and well-being of kids (no fund raising or political advocacy allowed!)

  • Contribute to collective impact and social change by sharing your giving stories and how they made a difference for young people of all backgrounds

Anyone who takes the Giving for Kids Pledge and commits the majority of their giving to causes that benefit kids is invited to join! You will be part of a network of people including parents, grandparents, child advocates, athletes, and celebrities who want to make the world a better place for all young people.

Giving for Kids allows you to publicly declare your intent to give to causes that improve the lives of children and youth. Your giving will inspire others to follow your lead! You will also gain visibility by formalizing your commitment to young people, and you will be part of a growing community invested in empowering the next generation.
